Doris A. Thomas-Adams' Obituary
Decatur-Doris A. Thomas-Adams, 69, of Decatur took the loving hand of Jesus at 5:06 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Doris was born January 13, 1945, in Decatur, the daughter of George William and Marie Laverne (Roberts) Camp. She was previously employed as a server at Steak N Shake for twenty years, then a CNA at St. Mary’s, DMH, and Pershing Estates for fourteen years, and with the Mt. Zion Kroger Deli Department for seven years before retiring. She had a servant’s heart, she loved to take care of people and share the word of God. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She married David Adams January 17, 1990. He preceded her in death July 31, 2000.
Doris leaves behind her children Janice (Ricky) Wilson of Decatur, James Thomas of Decatur, and Jack (Jennifer) Thomas Jr., of Amarillo, Texas, mother Marie Camp of Decatur, brothers, Jimmy (Carol) Camp Sun City, Florida and Gary (Ruthann) Camp of Decatur, grandchildren Alexandra and Brooke Wilson of Decatur, Kayla and Rachel Thomas of Decatur, and Joshua and Jacob Thomas of Amarillo, Texas.
Doris was reunited in Heaven with her father, brother William Camp, and twin infant sister.
Services to celebrate Doris’ life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Central Baptist Church, 945 S. Jasper St. Decatur, with Pastor Dave Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial with “Flight Home” Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Central Baptist Church.
