Doris Ann (Urquhart) Fiala's Obituary
Doris Ann (Urquhart) Fiala, 85, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Lincolnshire Place in Decatur, surrounded by her loving family.
Doris was born September 22, 1933, in Chicago, IL, to William Ronald and Hannah (Whittam) Urquhart. She married Richard James Fiala on February 12, 1955, in Chicago, IL. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and her Plantation Pine Girls Club. Doris loved gardening, reading, traveling, watching her children and grandchildren in sporting events, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was always for the underdog, as well as, being a Cubs and Bears fan.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard; four children, Ron (Kathy) Fiala of Victoria, MN, Dale (Beth) Fiala of Decatur, Bob (Kris) Fiala of Spokane, WA and Sue (Brian) Janke of LaPorte, IN; thirteen grandchildren, Jenny (Jim) Gerling, Andy (Missy) Fiala, Matt (Meghan) Fiala, Brian Fiala, Kristy (Nic) Webster, Kim (Graham) Malin, Kaela (Kyle) Rasmussen, Kylie Fiala, Michael Fiala, Nina (Michael) Pratte, Weston Fiala, Tim Janke, Chris Janke; eight great-grandchildren, Drew Gerling, Quin Gerling, Colter Gerling, Zoey Fiala, Brooks Fiala, Reagann Fiala, Roman Fiala and Skyanna Webster.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara Janke.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Doris Fiala will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church 204 W Prairie Ave, Decatur, IL 62523. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church before the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Northeast Community Fund or New Life Pregnancy Center.
