Decatur-Dorothea W. Dodd, 82, of Decatur, passed away at 4:47 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Graveside services to celebrate Dorothea’s life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Macon County Memorial Park with Don Estep officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Baptist Church. Dorothea was born April 3, 1927 in Clay City the daughter of Wilford L. and Gertie (White) Windle. She graduated from Newton High School class of 1945. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She loved and enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She married Roy Edward Dodd August 10, 1947 in Newton.
She leaves behind Roy her beloved husband for sixty-two years, daughters; Linda Ringel and husband Michael of Decatur and Marla Newman and husband Dennis of Bloomington, sons; Stephen Dodd and wife Sue of Decatur and John T. Dodd and wife Linda of Davenport, Iowa, sisters Doris Drawhon and husband Jim of Morton and Donna Edwards and husband Cliff of Scottsdale, Arizona, twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents and grandson.
