Dorothy Edith Adams' Obituary
Dorothy Edith Adams, 93, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in Decatur, IL.
She was born near Oreana on June 8, 1932, to the late Thomas and Edith (Hobbs) Hupp. A graduate of Argenta High School class of 1950, she went on to work in the accounting department at A. W. Cash Value Corporation for 44 years before her retirement in 1995.
Dorothy was a member of Forsyth Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for 32 years, from 1980 to 2012. She liked sports and was an especially big fan of the Chicago Cubs baseball team and Fighting Illini basketball team.
She married Joseph L. Adams on September 17, 1954, and they shared 51 years of marriage until his passing in 2005. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include a wonderful daughter and son-in-law, Kay Riggen and Victor Riggen of Forsyth; grandchildren, Julie Riggen and partner Brian Acker, Kimberly McCullough and husband Ryan of Monticello, as well as great grandchildren, Charlotte and Cooper McCullough, all of whom she loved dearly; two sisters, Shirley Lechleiter of Forsyth, and Jane Miller of Hammond, who has since passed away after Dorothy on February 10, 2026; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Dorothy Adams will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Forsyth Baptist Church, 144 E Cox Street, Forsyth, IL 62535. Funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Bruce Homontowski.
Dorothy will be laid to rest in Graceland Cemetery in a private ceremony.
