Decatur – Dorothy Tichenor Bohlen, 87, of Decatur, passed away at 2:21 am Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, Indiana.
Services to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home. Entombment with the “Flight Home” Ceremony will be at the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. Dorothy was born September 7, 1921 in Walker, Illinois, the daughter of Homer and Mayme (Walker) Andrews. She married John Russell Tichenor on November 9, 1946 in Decatur. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in excess of 50 years. Dorothy was also a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution. she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She will be sadly missed by one son: Lee Andrew (Mary Elizabeth) Tichenor of Temecula, California, one daughter: Judith Ann (Mark James) Kanelos of Bloomington, Indiana, five step-children: Robert Bohlen of Andover, Massachusetts, Virginia Miller of Kirkwood, MO, Susan Bryant of Wake Forest, N.C., Christopher Bohlen of Kankakee, and Gregory Bohlen of Chapel Hill N.C., three sisters: Marguerite McDaniel of Tuscola, Illinois, Carolyn Bahr of Decatur, and Barbara (Richard) Jostes of Moweaqua, seventeen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: John Tichenor, one sister: Virginia Bohlen, her second husband: Orlando Bohlen, and her parents.
