Dorothy May Brown's Obituary
Dorothy May Brown, 97, of Decatur, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016, at Lincoln Manor Healthcare.
Dorothy was born August 19, 1919, in Decatur, to Roscoe and Josephine (Remley) Brannon. She married William Eugene Brown on November 15, 1941, in Paris, IL. He passed away September 30, 2016. Dorothy worked at GE for 23 years. She was a member of Crest Haven Country Club and Decatur Moose Lodge. Dorothy loved square dancing, ball room dancing, golfing, playing bingo and going to the boat to gamble.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann (Phil) Hambrecht of Forsyth; two grandchildren, Jamie Jo Hambrecht and Phillip Jo Hambrecht; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Nathan, Pharryn, Ashlynne and Chloe Hambrecht; four great-great-grandchildren, Ally, Lexi, Alex and Jaye Bales; two sisters, Evelyn Creekmur of Decatur and Joan Randall of Mt. Zion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Dorothy May Brown will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. The family requests casual attire for the service. Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army 229 West Main Street, Decatur, IL 62523.
