Dorothy May Dickerson's Obituary
Dorothy May Dickerson, 99, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away November 3, 2025.
Dorothy was born in Loogootee, Illinois, on March 2, 1926, the daughter of Roy and Urilla (Neisler) Helm. She married Floyd Dickerson on March 7, 1947, in Hillsboro, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Dorothy worked as a riveter at Curtiss Wright aircraft factory in St. Louis during World War II. She later worked at the GE factory in Decatur. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling and chatting with friends and family. She treasured the time she spent with her family.
Dorothy is survived by her children Sharon Scarlett of Texas and Stanley Dickerson of Ohio; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Robert Osborne; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Edward Roy Dickerson, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Dorothy. A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Friday, December 5, in Graceland Cemetery. Condolences may be shared with the family at https://www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
