Dorothy May Fields' Obituary
Decatur-Dorothy May Fields, 95, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in her home with her neighbors and caregivers by her side.
Dorothy was born June 20, 1921 in Strasburg, Illinois, the daughter of Jess and Heda (Hasemeir) Fields. She worked in housekeeping at Decatur Memorial Hospital retiring with over ten years of service. She then worked in housekeeping at the Best Western. Dorothy was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church and loved animals especially dogs.
Dorothy leaves behind her neighbors, care givers, and adopted family Mark and Sharon Fitzgerald, their children Jonathan St. Clair, Charles St. Clair, Shannon Fitzgerald, Shana Fitzgerald, and Andrew Fitzgerald, and their five children, caregiver Heather Pratt, nieces Rebecca Pender, Sarah Garza, Mary Polnow, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and her sisters.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Keith Smith and DMH Hospice especially Jim for all of their loving care.
Private family services will be held in Graceland Cemetery.
