Dorothy Jean "Jeannie" Bengston's Obituary
Decatur-Dorothy Jean “Jeannie” Bengston, 90, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in Imboden Creek Living Center with her family by her side.
She was born September 10, 1922 in Weldon, Illinois, the daughter of Alden and Clara (Sullivan) Swearingen. She was the owner/operator of Bengston Standard Service Stations for twelve years. She then worked in civil processing for the Macon County Sheriff’s Department retiring after eleven years of service. She attended Moundford Free Methodist Church. She married Earl Bengston July 13, 1946; later they divorced.
She leaves behind her daughter Nancy Stanley and her husband Mark of Decatur, grandchildren Brent Stanley and wife Diana of Olathe, Kansas and Tressa Rosone and husband Mark of Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, great-grandchildren Blake, Brady, and Bria Stanley and Clayton and Carly Rosone; and her nephew Jim and his wife Patti Swearingen of Oreana.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents and two brothers.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Vicki Baumgartner and all of the nurses and staff at Imboden Creek Living Center for all of their loving care.
Services to celebrate Jeannie’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Weldon Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Imboden Creek Living Center.
