Decatur-Dorothy McArty, 92, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, August 06, 2015 in Imboden Creek Living Center.
Services to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2015 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Shriners Children’s Hospital and/or American Cancer Society.
Dorothy was born October 23, 1922 in Lincoln, IL the daughter of Ralph C. and Edith L. Baldwin. Dorothy worked for Fairhaven Christian Nursing Home with twenty five years of service as an CNA. Dorothy enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She married Warren G. McArty on January 10, 1945, in Decatur. They shared thirty-three wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on January 10, 1979.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Stephen (Brenda) McArty of Decatur, Tom (Lucinda) McArty of Buffalo; one daughter, Laura (Ron) Chaplin of La Place, IL; sister, Nancy Tate of Crawfordsville, IN; grandchildren, Jason, Bryan, Matthew, Lauren “Allison”, Chad, Christian, Heather, Cortney, Brandon, Justin; and fourteen great-grandchildren, with two on the way, and a host of nieces and nephews; two aunts, Shirley Peterson Of Valrico, FL and Peg Gibson of Galesburg, IL.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Warren G. McArty, parents, two brothers, and one sister.
