Goodbye to our dear Aunt Dorothy. I have many fond memories of visiting her and Uncle Larry in Decatur playing in the back yard, board games and always enjoying the Guinea Pigs. Our kids remember the wonderful books and songs they did with Aunt Dorothy like “Going on a Bear Hunt”, “Five little monkeys”, and of course “Alice’s camel had 5 humps”. She was the best with children and the most positive person I have ever known. Such an inspiration. She will certainly be missed by so many. Rest in peace. Love Mike and Sheryl Craig

My mother, Dorothy Davis, was a preschool teacher with,, Dorothy for many years at Central Christian Church. The two Dorothys were an awesome pair and I loved watching them work together. I helped with many an "Open House" along with Debra. The preschool was a central part of their lives and a deep friendship was formed by the two. My family was blessed to know Dorothy and Lawerence.

My heart was saddened when I heard of Dorothy's passing. Dorothy was one of the kindest, most enjoyable, and caring people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She was always smiling and lit up the room when she walked in. Dorothy will be missed by family and her many friends. RIP Dorothy.

I met Mrs. Rueff in 2006 when I joined two other volunteers who were maintaining the Wander Garden at what Barton Stone Home in Jacksonville IL at that time. She was such a sweet lady and was always so appreciative of the work we did to improve and maintain the garden. She would see us working from her cottage and come over to compliment us on how it looked almost every time we were there. She would also share compliments from other people living there and told us how they enjoyed watching us work....whether we were planting or weeding or whatever! Through the years, many relatives would bring their loved ones outside for a trip through the garden. We tried to plant flowers from past years. Hollyhocks were very popular. Many would reminisce about gardens from their past. One year we had volunteer corn stalks so left those in the garden for all the farmers living there! All our volunteers over the years enjoyed the fellowship we had while working in that garden all those years. I did not realize, until last August, that my birthday is the same as Mrs. Rueff's! What a wonderful surprise that was for me. I admired her so much and enjoyed all the time spent with her. She was always a ray of sunshine for me.

My mother, Betsy Work, and Dottie were college roommates and friends for many decades after that, visiting, even though, they lived in different states, and calling regularly. They were bridesmaids for each other's weddings.
I remember many visits with Dottie and family growing up. She was always loving and gracious! She dealt with many challenges physically and the loss of beloved family members but she stayed strong! She was a remarkable woman who I will never forget!

I worked with Dorothy in Christian education at Central Christian Church indicator in the late 60s. She was instrumental in starting the preschool program there which has nurtured hundreds of children through the years and still going strong. She provided a strong educational focus, but even more provided a sweet Christian spirit of love and inclusion. I was proud to have her as a friend ever cents and kept in touch until just recently. She is a beautiful humble spirited and servant oriented Woman who has bless the lives of countless people and especially mine.
