Dorothy Seymour's Obituary
Dorothy Seymour, 77, of Decatur passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Dorothy was born on September 18, 1937 in Waynesville, IL the daughter of William and Helen (Slaughter) Sumpter. She was a member of Sheppard’s Chapel and was a retired bookkeeper with the local Carpenters union. She loved bookkeeping, reading her bible, and spending time with her family. Dorothy was a mother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed and will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.
Surviving are her son, Norman Sumpter of Springfield; brother, Dallas Sumpter of Peoria; sisters, Evelyn Sperry (Max) of Forsyth; and Mary Stine (Charles) of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Darwin Sumpter.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul and CIARS Allergy Clinic in Springfield for 10 years of great service.
Graveside service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be 10 am Thursday, September 3, 2015 in Boiling Springs Cemetery.
