Dorthea Pauline's Obituary
Dorothea Mae Pauline, 92, of Decatur died peacefully at Imboden Living Center on Sunday, October 7, 2012. She was born May 7, 1920 to Raymond and Sara Williams of Oglesby, Illinois. Dorothea graduated from Oglesby High School and received a degree in English from the LaSalle Peru Oglesby Jr College in 1940. She married Joseph Val Pauline in 1941 who preceded her in death in 2006. They resided in Sioux City, Iowa before relocating to Decatur. They shared varied interests, traveled and loved to dance to the big bands.
Dorothea taught school, owned Thea’s Maternity Shop, worked as advertising manager for Montgomery Wards, managed Kelly Girl Services, and worked as store manager of Linn & Scruggs. She also served as President of the American Business Women’s Association in 1969. She later returned to teaching and retired from Dennis School in 1977. Dorothea attended both St James Catholic Church and St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Decatur.
Dorothea is survived by three children: Bonnie Summers of Decatur; Jeff Pauline of Carbondale; Kristy Rutz of Portland, Oregon; 6 grandchildren - Jay Lamb of Monticello; Rob Lamb, of Decatur; Amy Shanks of South Padre Island, Texas; Carri Voss of Centralia; Allison Murray of Jacksonville, FL; and Melissa Tem of Jacksonville Beach, FL; and 10 great grandchildren.
A family memorial will be held during the holidays.
