Dwight Marquis' Obituary
Decatur- Dwight P. Marquis, 78, of Decatur passed away at 6:50 am Sunday, October 9, 2011 in Heartland Health Care of Decatur.
Dwight was born on July 3, 1933 in Decatur the son of John and Luella (Tanner) Marquis. He retired from Caterpillar and was a Veteran of the US Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1181 and the Moose Lodge. He married Norma Cole on August 1, 1952 in Decatur. In his youth he was a Golden Gloves Boxer and Boxed in the Army. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and farming. He was a devoted family man to his wife, children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Norma, sons, Phillip Marquis (Phyllis) of Warrensburg; Randy Marquis (Debbie) of Assumption; Brian Marquis (Sandy) of Decatur; brother, John Marquis(Joyce) of Lovington; grandchildren, Jennifer, Beau, Britney, Trevor, Clint, Cory, Amanda, Crystal, Dalton; great-grandchildren, Nikki, Chance, Trinity, and Destiny.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter Dawn Marquis.
Funeral service celebrating Dwight's life will be 10:00 am Thursday, October 13, 2011 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 -7:00 pm Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard and conclude with 'Flight Home' ceremony. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer Association or the American Heart Association.
