Colleen E Delgado's Obituary
Decatur – Colleen Kay Edie Delgado, 69, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. Colleen was born August 22, 1945, in Decatur, to Fred C. and Mary Ann (McGorray) Edie. She married Samuel Delgado on November 22, 1978.
Colleen graduated from Stephen Decatur High School, and Millikin University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. She earned a Masters Degree from the University of Illinois-Springfield, in Human Development Counseling and became a State of Illinois Licensed Clinical Counselor. Her career included working at the Alcoholism Council for the Decatur Area; Community Education Drug and Alcohol Prevention Project; Richland Community College and Decatur Mental Health Center; and provided DUI services with the Macon County courts. Colleen was a school prevention educator at the Macon County Health/Advocacy program. She also worked as a substance abuse counselor at Decatur Memorial Hospital, DeWitt County Human Resource Center in Clinton and Chestnut Global Partners in Decatur.
Colleen is survived by her husband of 36 years, Samuel Delgado of Decatur, one step-son, Samuel Joseph Delgado of Iowa, Louisiana; three step-daughters, Georgine Marie (Elton Lynell) Thomason of Sulphur, Louisiana, Linda Gale (Robert) Lanning of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Connie Lynn (Paul) Montminy of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one brother Michael M. (Susan) Edie of Warrensburg, one sister, Patricia E. (Stephen) High of Fort Myers, Florida; nephews Bradley High of Aurora, Colorado and Jeffrey (Kris) of Miami Beach, Florida; niece Jennifer (Chad) Goveia of Niantic; many step-grandchildren; and a very dear friend Sue Weinstein of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her parents. Colleen’s warm heart and loving spirit lives on in cherished memories of her many friends and family members.
A memorial service to celebrate Colleen’s life will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in the Woodland Chapel of Lampstand Presbyterian Church, 655 So. Airport Road, Decatur. Memorials may be made to Decatur Memorial Hospice.
