Jathan & Kristin,I am so sorry to hear about your tragic loss. My family's thoughts and prayers are with you during this extremely difficult time. Jathan, you and your family were like an extended family to me growing up and my thoughts are with them as well. Your mother (Jean) meant a great deal to me and I know that she will watch over your boys. That is the wonderful person she was. Just wanted to let you know we were thinking about the two of you and your families.Ryan Smith and the Smith family.
Love you Colin! Nana
A message to our son, Colin Earl Portis:We shared thoughts of holding you in our arms, we looked forward to the memories that we would have shared, loving you, and watching you grow was the dream your mother and I had for you. The dreams that we have now, will have to be the ones we imagine of how things would have been. Already we smile, laugh, and cry at the thought of living with twins boys and what life would have been like with you and your brother. The laughter you would have created, the havoc around the house that would have caused, the numerous items of your mom's you would have broken, it is all is apart of watching a child grow up. I think of the rule that I would have had, that my mom had for me, "Boy you better be in this house before that street light comes on." I think of the times we woud have shared, teaching you and your brother how to play sports, mow the lawn, and cookout on the grill. Your mother making sure we all go to church every Sunday and the repeated efforts to get you and brother up for school everyday. Summer vacations and swimming in the backyard, playing with the dogs, and making friends both at school, and in the neighborhood, sleepovers, and spending time with family. Setting off firworks, Thanksgiving dinners, and opening presents on Christmas Day are times that would have been cherished forever. Telling you stories about your Big Mama and your PaPa and answering your questions about what it was like when we grew up. Teaching you to respect women, watching you go out on your first dates, graduating from school, getting married and having families of your own, were all things we looked forward to seeing in the years ahead. Now we must wait, wait for the times that we will share, the times we will share when we meet in Heaven. You are our son, Colin Earl Portis, you will be forever loved and cherished in our hearts.Love Always….Your Mom and Dad, Kristin and Jathan……..P.S. See what you and your brother can do about helping the Cubs win a World Series….
