Earlene Gray's Obituary
Earlene Gray, 76, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 9:06 P.M. on Friday (09-01-2023) at St. Mary’s Hospital Decatur, IL.
She was born on January 29, 1947, in Mercer, TN, the daughter of Jimmy Lee Carroll and Magnolia (Bond) Carroll. Earlene was baptized at the Greater Mercer Baptist Church in Mercer, TN. She married Algie Gray on July 5, 1968, in Brownsville, TN. He survives her after more than 55 years of marriage.
Earlene was a wonderful homemaker. She was a great seamstress, loved the color red, going shopping, watching soap operas especially One Life to Live and General Hospital, and loved her kids and grandkids. Earlene had a wonderful laugh and was a very outspoken woman.
She is survived by her husband: Algie of Decatur, IL, daughter: Beverly Ann Gray Joyner of Chicago, IL, two brothers: Harold Lee Carroll and wife Brenda of Jackson, TN, and Ivie Lee Carroll and wife Michelle of Memphis, TN; six sisters: Prinestine Lee of Jackson, TN, Josephine Jones of Jackson, TN, Luevenia Jones and husband L.C. Jones of Brownsville, TN, Gladys Carroll of St. Louis, MO, Annetta Brice and husband Robert of Jackson, TN, and Victoria Jones of Jackson, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Eldridge Gray, 7 brothers and sisters.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. on Saturday (09-16-2023) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday (09-16-2023) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home.
