Eddie Crawford's Obituary
Decatur-Eddie Crawford, 85, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013.
He was born October 6, 1927 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Orville and Edna (Pierson) Crawford. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was previously employed at Decatur Laundry and Super Liquor. Along with his wife he then owned and operated Bet'r Dry Cleaners. He was a member of the VFW, Ionic Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M. where he was past master, and Beaumanoir Commandery where he served as past commander. He loved to travel. He married Florence Mae Summerlott. October 28, 1945. She preceded him in death January 29, 2013. They shared over sixty-seven years together.
He leaves behind his children Stephen and wife Janice of Oswego, Debbie Trent and husband Bob of Decatur, and Teena Shugart and husband Jeff of Decatur, grandchildren John Crawford of Chesapeake, Virginia, Jason Crawford of Chicago, Aaron and Ryan Buckley both of Decatur, Christopher, Matthew, and Zachary Shugart all of Decatur, great-grandchildren Luke and Hope Crawford, Trent and Conner Buckley, and Benjamin Shugart, and brother William Crawford and wife Marlene of Decatur, and brother-in-law Arthur Walters of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister Norma Walters.
Memorial services to celebrate Eddie's life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Trinity Nazarene Church, 1645 S. 44th St. Decatur. Private family entombment with military honors will be at the Pieta Garden Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
