Eddie O. Hale's Obituary
Decatur-Eddie O. Hale, affectionately known as 'EO' to family and friends, 84 of East Peoria, formerly of Decatur, entered the sunset of his life at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 05, 2010 at his residence with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Eddie's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 1:30 p.m. Interment with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital or Alzheimer's Association. Eddie was born July 20, 1925 in Decatur, the son of Fred and Mary (Kerschner) Hale. He began his working career with his father at Freddie's Restaurant and Pool Hall. He spent most of his days at Borg Warner before retiring in 1987. He was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite, Master Mason belonging to Macon Lodge #8 A.F. & A.M., and Ansar Shrine. He proudly served his country as a cook in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Long Creek Fire Department. He was active in the A.I.W. serving for many years as a steward. He married Audrey Warner December 25, 1946 in Mt. Zion, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Audrey Hale of East Peoria; daughter, Linda (Jim) Roberts of Satsuma, FL; grandsons: Kenneth (Mindy) Morris of Metamora, IL; Robert Morris of Landrum, SC; great-grandsons: Kyle Morris currently serving in the U.S. Navy in Japan; Christopher Morris of Landrum, SC; Daniel (DJ) Morris of Landrum, SC; great-granddaughters: Ashley Morris of Tampa, FL; Heather Morris of Metamora, IL; Harlie Morris of Landrum, SC; and niece, Jeannie (Mike) Marshall of Ocala, FL.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Vonck; brother, Eugene Hale; and various cousins.
