Edgar Brewer, Jr.'s Obituary
Edgar “Ed” Hubert Brewer, age 91, of Decatur IL. Ed passed away peacefully on Monday April 20th, 2026 at The Boulevard Senior Living in Wentzville, MO.
Ed was born on September 23rd, 1934, in Mattoon, IL, to the late Edgar and Kate (Carter) Brewer. He married Winagene Brewer on February 14th, 1960 and they shared over 64 years together until her death in 2024.
Ed was an avid musician and loved playing the mandolin, ukelele, and harmonica. He collected marbles, was a talented golfer and bowler. Ed was a U.S. Army veteran that served in Germany in 1956. Stories from his military experiences were some of his favorite youthful memories. He retired from Bridgestone Firestone in 1995 and became a volunteer for many causes, including Rock Spring Nature Center, DMH Hospital, and Macon County Senior Center.
He is survived by his children: Theresa Dawn Maue (Nick), Wentzville, MO, Dana Covey, Sterling, IL, and Curtis Brewer (Lori) Soddy Daisy, TN; grandchildren Daniel Maue of Wentzville, MO, John (Ashley) Maue of Troy, MO, Benjamin Covey of Ottawa, IL, Isabella Covey of Milwaukee, WI, Hayley Creath of Rogers, AR, and Lindsay Creath of Decatur, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers and sisters, and granddaughter Nicole Agnew and first wife, Carolyn Inez Wright
The family wishes to thank the kind people of the Boulevard Senior Living, St Croix Hospice, as well as close family friend Mary Margaret Robinson for all of the support.
Visitation for Ed will be noon to 1pm on Tuesday, April 28th at Graceland/Fairlawn funeral home. Burial will follow visitation and service at Graceland cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rock Springs Nature Center or any preferred hospice care service.
