Edith Alberta Buckley's Obituary
Decatur-Edith Alberta Buckley, 82, of Decatur, departed her Earthly life to enter into her Heavenly home with Jesus at 3:59 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in the presence of her family at Imboden Creek Living Center.
Edith was born June 24, 1931 in Eagle River, Wisconsin, the daughter of Albert J. and Florence M. (Johnson) Fields. She attended Eagle River and Conover schools. After high school, Edith moved with her sister Lorraine to Milwaukee. There she met her husband Thermon Leroy Buckley. They were married April 2, 1955 in Waukegan. He preceded her death April 16, 1977.
Edith was employed by FW Means, then later at Federal Kemper Insurance Company where she retired in 1991 after many years of service. She was a volunteer for St. Mary’s Auxiliary. As a child she attended Pioneer Lake Lutheran Church in Conover, Wisconsin and in recent years was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God. Edith’s first love was her lord and savior Jesus Christ. She enjoyed bowling, camping where she was a member of both the Caterpillar and Kemper Camping Clubs, sports of all kinds, attending Kemper Retiree Luncheons, going to the Little Theater on the Square with friends from Kemper, reading, crossword puzzles, and all genres of music. Edith loved traveling and included in her travels were a trip to London, England with the Maranatha Church Choir and two Alaskan cruises with her friends from Kemper. She also enjoyed craft shows and festivals. She had a keen memory for always recollecting dates and historical events. One of her simple pleasures was to hang her laundry outside in the fresh air and enjoy the clean scent of the clothing when she brought them in to fold. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family.
Edith leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Julie (Jim) Fulk of Decatur, sons Robin (Lori) Buckley of Marietta, Ohio and Rick (Rachel) Buckley of Decatur, grandchildren Destiny Stewart, Amber Fulk, Ryan (Ashley) Buckley, Jessica Fulk, Kristen Buckley, A.J.
