Edna Mae Goad's Obituary
Decatur-Edna Mae Goad, 90, of Decatur, passed away at 5:38 a.m. Friday, June 04, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Services to celebrate Edna's life will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Blankenship officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Edna was born October 5, 1919 in Monticello, Kentucky, the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Sallie (Lee) Latham. She was previously employed as a LPN for St. Mary's Hospital and then as a private visiting nurse. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Edna enjoyed genealogy, cooking, and caring for everyone else. She was an very giving and charitable person. She married Elmer E. Goad April 3, 1949. He preceded her in death October 30, 1990.
She leaves behind five children, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, all of her siblings, two children, and two grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Fair Havens Christian Home and floor 4100 at DMH for all of their compassionate care.
