Edna E. Overfield's Obituary
Decatur-Edna E. Overfield, age 85 of Decatur, passed away at 7:18 pm Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services to celebrate Edna's life will be 2:00 pm Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Bowman officiating. Visitation will be from 5 ' 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Interment concluding with the 'Flight Home' ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heartland Community Church in Decatur. Online memories and condolences may be shared with Edna's family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
Edna was born on Christmas day December 25, 1924 in Wheatcroft, KY, the daughter of Roy and Arlene (Collins) Litchfield. She married John Overfield on July 3, 1939 and they celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing in December, 2001. Edna was a homemaker and spent most of her life caring for her family.
She was a wonderful Mother to: Janice (husband ' Don) Moore of Newburgh, IN; Doug (wife ' Jennifer) Overfield and Rita (husband ' David) Rupert and Kathy (husband ' John) Elliott, all of Decatur.
'Granny' as she was affectionately called, was a wonderful Grandmother to: Grandchildren ' Mark, LaDonna, Joy (Jim), Mike, Mary, Jenny (Darryl), Rob (Dee Anna), Katie, Amanda (Ron), and Jonathan: 20 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren ' a total 42 children/grandchildren who she loved very much.
Edna is survived by her sister-in-law Mary Jane Whelan of Decatur (who was like a sister), and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded her in death were her parents, husband John, and a special friend Edward Lentz.
She was a member of the Heartland Community Church and a devoted Christian. She is now with her Lord and Savior and embraced by her loved ones in heaven, no more pain and suffering. May she rest in peace. Everyone loved Edna, she was a sweet lady and if you knew her, you loved her. We will love and miss her always.
