Edwin K. Stolley's Obituary
Decatur-Edwin K. Stolley, 91, of Decatur, was called home Friday, April 27, 2012.
Graveside services to celebrate Ed's life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Graceland Cemetery and conclude with a Masonic Service. Private family visitation will be held at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
Ed was born September 14, 1920 in Arcola the son of Earl and Clara (Kruger) Stolley. He married the love of his life Gloria Green on December 14, 1958. She remained by his side until his heavenly Father called him home.
He graduated from Decatur High School in 1938. During W.W. II he went to California to work in the airplane factory as a riveter on the fighter planes. When the war was over her returned to Decatur and started Ideal Refrigeration which he owned/operated until his retirement over twenty-five years ago.
He was a longtime member and supporter of Wesley United Methodist Church. He also attended St. John's Lutheran Church with his wife. He joined Ionic Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M. on December 6, 1941 as a master mason. He was also a lifetime member of the Scottish Rite and Ansar Shrine. He was a permanent member of the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. Ed was a loving and devoted husband. He was a very generous man, giving freely to help others.
In his earlier years Ed loved to fish, golf, swim, travel, and spend time with his friends playing pool. He was an avid reader, with a remarkable ability to remember things. This amazed many people, even in his later years.
He leaves behind his wife Gloria, brother Fred Stolley, sister Mary Baker, best friend and nephew Jeff Freeman and his wife Debbie, and several nieces and nephews.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, brothers Robert Stolley and Harry Stolley.
