Lit a candle in memory of Edwina Dickey
I was saddened to learn of Edwina's death. I first met her when she was a substitute teacher at Southeast School and the mother of my dear second-grader, Jennie Dickey. Edwina always had a smile on her face and was a pleasure to know. My sympathy to the family with special love and hugs to Jennie. Verlyn (Fulton) Rosenberger
Mrs. Dickey was my third grade teacher in Mt. Zion. I still have an ornament she knitted for me in 1980 and hang it on my Christmas tree every year. She was definitely my favorite teacher! I remember her reading poetry to us every day, mostly Shel Silverstein. She was an amazing teacher who had high expectations for all of her students. She is one of the reasons I became a teacher and am now in my 21st year of teaching in Arkansas.
It was my pleasure to meet Edwina when she came to visit me looking for oiled wool. On one of her visits to me I was the the lucky recipient of basil plants. She explained to me that they needed to be potted because they would spread like crazy. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed knitting for them. You must have some wonderful stories of this generous woman. Ruth Darelius
