Elaine Ruth Schmoldt's Obituary
Decatur – Elaine Ruth Schmoldt, 82, of Decatur, passed away at 5:00 pm Thursday, January 15, 2009 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Services to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 19, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Weise officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church building fund. Elaine was born March 17, 1926 in West Point, Nebraska, the daughter of Ernst and Selma (Krueger) Abendroth. She married Raymond W. Schmoldt on September 7, 1946 in West Point, Nebraska.
She leaves behind her husband of 62 years: Raymond, one daughter: Barbara (Tom) Eichenauer of Rialto, California, two sons: Richard (Colleen) Schmoldt of Decatur, and Larry (Nancy) Schmoldt of Mesa, Arizona, sisters: Dorothy Gerwick of Scribner, Nebraska, Gladys Prokup of Pender, Nebraska, and Shirley (Lee) Schinick of Oakland, Nebraska, seven grandchildren: Amanda, Aaron, Anthony (Holly), Kimberlee, Kristina Schmoldt, Rachael Montillo, and Brad Eichenauer, three great-grandchildren: Jordon Rentfro, Kianna Montillo, and Camden Schmoldt, many nieces and nephews, and many great friends from her life long home in Nebraska, especially Mary (Larry) Gentrup.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Elveria Ludwig, and Luella Adendroth, one grandson: Kevin Schmoldt, and one great-granddaughter: Riley Jo Schmoldt.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cancer Care of Central Illinois – Dr. Mario Velasco, and the nurses that provided such loving care, especially Cindy and Decatur Memorial Home Care Hospice.
