Eleanor P. Schwartzle's Obituary
Decatur – Eleanor P. Schwartzle, 86, of Decatur, passed away at 6:45 pm Friday, March 13, 2009 at Imboden Creek Nursing Home.
Services celebrating Eleanor’s life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Weiss officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment with the “Flight Home” Ceremony will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Eleanor was born October 18, 1922 in Decatur, the daughter of Paul and Amalia (Kaminski) Ponewash. Eleanor married Frank T. Jahn in 1942. He passed away serving his country during WWII in 1945. She married Dale Schwartzle on January 15, 1950 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1972.
Eleanor was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She graduated from St. Johannes School and proudly earned her nursing degree from Decatur Macon County School of Nursing in 1949. She worked for the Macon County Hospital in the surgery department, General Electric as a plant nurse, for Dr. Herbert Bavor and Dr. William Requarth where she retired after years of dedicated service.
She will be sadly missed by her son: Gary (Vicki) Schwartzle of Decatur, daughter: Paula (John) Cross of Scottsdale, Arizona, four grandchildren: Sarah Cross, David Cross, Matt Schwartzle, Kyle Schwartzle, and nephews.
She was reunited in heaven with Frank, Dale, parents, and one sister: Betty Snyder.
