Elmer L. Ford's Obituary
Decatur-Elmer L. Ford, 83, of Decatur, passed away 1:25 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Elmer's life will be 2 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Private entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Homeward Bound Pet Shelter. Elmer was born February 8, 1927 in Decatur the son of Robert T. and Lola G. (Huston) Ford. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. He retired from the A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company after forty-five years of service. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and a charter member of the Keystone Kingpins Wii Bowling Team. He was an avid Cubs fan. He married Louise Patterson November 29, 1946 in Maroa. She preceded him in death on March 12, 1971. He then married Sandria 'Sandy' (Schuster) Magos July 29, 1972 in Urbana. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2002.
He leaves behind his daughter; Joyce Ruch and husband Gary of Cisco, stepdaughter; Carol Greene and husband John Viskup of Decatur, stepson; Michael Brabec and wife Devra of Ft. Mill, SC, grandchildren; Laura of Monticello, Bethany of Hammond, Matt of Decatur, Greg of Philadelphia, and Nicole of Charlotte, NC, and five great-grandchildren.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, six brothers, and three sisters.
