Elsie B. (Thompson) Pembroke-Otto's Obituary
Elsie B. (Thompson) Pembroke-Otto, 80, of Decatur, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Elsie was born July 2, 1938, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Leonard and Violet (Hopper) Thompson.
Surviving are her five daughters; Kathleen (Mike) Beube of Decatur; Marcia (Mike) Jordan of Chestnut; Phyllis (David) Grimes of Decatur; Diana Menter of Decatur; and Anita (Wendel) Boyd of Decatur; her grandchildren; Ryan, Jeff, Clint, Chris, Lucas, Colton, Sara, Lori, Brian, Bradley, Jamie, Phylicia, Derrick, Dustin, Victoria, Jennifer, Mary, Tristin, Devon; her great-grandchildren, Madison, Dalton, Sophia, Hailey, Adylynn, Carter, Leigha, Lezlie, Landon, Liam, David, Haley, Zada, Christian, T.J., Aurora, Addilynne, Aaidan, Trace, Cage, Ryder, Tanner, Grayson, and River; three sisters, Ellen Little of Taylorville; Patricia Huff of Assumption; and Freda Klespitz of Taylorville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John Pembroke and Jamsey “James” Otto; a sister, Linda Thompson; a great-grandchild, Carleigh; and a nephew, Steve Arterburn.
Elsie worked as a waitress for many years and retired in 2000. She was a people person and was actively involved with her many friends at the Oxford House. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her daughter, Diana for the loving care given to Elsie during the difficult times. They also would like to thank the staff at Mckinley Court for their compassionate care.
A funeral service will be at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
