Emily Jane Hayes' Obituary
DECATUR- E. Jane Hayes, 93 of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Imboden Creek Living Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Father Joseph Molloy, celebrant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials are suggested to the Adam Carter Scholarship Fund, in care of St. Teresa High School. Jane was born on June 11, 1920 in Decatur, a daughter of Leo Francis and Laura Irene (Wiefel) Hayes. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Jane provided child care for many families in the Decatur area. She was a playground supervisor at Ben Franklin for many years. Jane was an avid St. Teresa sports fan and she loved to follow her nieces and nephews games.
Surviving are her sister- Mary Elizabeth “Boots” Shaw of San Antonio, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers- Dr. Laurence Hayes and William Hayes, and a sister- Sally Carpenter.
Jane’s family is especially grateful to her loving niece Kathy Kirby, who cared for Jane in her declining years.
