Eric Hart's Obituary
On a beautiful winter day, February 6, 1968, Eric Lamont Hart a.k.a “Jeep” was born in Cairo, Illinois to Lessie Chargois and Darnell Baldwin. He was the second child and firstborn son. His father preceded him in death.
Growing up, Eric was a very athletic and enterprising young boy with a strong work ethic. Between the ages of 8 and 14, he was one of Decatur’s finest: the best short stop in baseball. The United States Army always looks for good men, and Eric was one of them. He later became a veteran in the Army, from his service, of which he learned many things about life. Eric was a creative visionary with a passion for cutting hair. He later became a Master Barber with great Hands of Creativity. Eric excepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior many years at Liberty Temple Full Gospel Church and World Outreach Ministries.
Eric moved to Chicago, Illinois where he met his wife Rashida and asked her hand in marriage. They became husband and wife on December 7, 2014.
On early Saturday morning at 12:55am, March 2, 2019 Eric “Jeep” Hart was called home to glory with his family at his side. Although he is at home with Jesus and the heavenly host, his legacy lives on in the lives of many. We know heaven was rejoicing that a General was arriving in Glory!
Eric Hart was a devoted husband, father, minister, mentor and friend to many. He leaves to cherish his memory and finish their course: his wife, Rashida Hart; loving mother Lessie Chargois; daughters: Kristianna George (Brandon), Erica Brown, Zinda Hart, Lateefah Williams; son: Eric Lamont Hart Jr. (Monique); sisters: Regina Hart (Wayne), Zinda James (Chris), Lasonja Chargois, Tanja Chargois; brothers: Bryant Hart (Lashonda), John Chargois IV (Eunice), Darrell Darnell Harris, Darnell Lowe; aunts: Mozzella Toms (Pierre), Melva Johnson (William), Ruby (Danny); uncle: Lester Eric Hart (Geneva); spiritual parents: Thomas and Esther Johnson; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church and LIN families, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
