Dear Larry and Family,I don't know if you remember me or not, but my name is Sally Ann Kates (used to be Vest) and I started working at Lakeside Dairy Bar in 1958. It was my first employment and I loved working with and for your family. It was a wonderful experience! Your family made their employees feel like they were a part of your family. I loved your grandparents and thought your mother was lovely. I remember having so much fun at the Dairy Bar. Your dad was such a neat guy! I remember when I first got to start actually handling the hamburgers and not just working out front. Your dad was a great teacher! I was sorry to read in his obituary that your mother passed eight years ago. Both of them, as well as you and the rest of your family, Larry, were and are wonderful people. I'm sure I got the job because my dad delivered hamburger to the Dairy Bar. Some people have bad experiences with their first employment, but I always felt blessed with mine. I still tell stories about working there to whomever will listen. About how your grandma taught us to tie our aprons with beautiful, perfect bows and how your mom had a fish hook caught under the bone above her eye while out fishing. Also, Larry, for years I had a drawing you had drawn. You were quite the artist! Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the death of your dad. I wish I could make it to the visitation. My sister, Roberta Fox, sent me the obituary and I am so glad she did. Take care and God bless you and all the family. Love and Prayers,Sally Ann Vest Kates
