Decatur-Ernie “Ray” Isaac, 72, of Decatur passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011.
A service to celebrate the life of Ray will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2011 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 2339 N. Oakland, Decatur, Illinois. With a visitation held 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Interment with “Flight Home” ceremony will be at Point Pleasant Cemetery Long Creek, Illinois. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorial contributions be made to Metropolitan Baptist Church Printing Ministry or to the family. Ray was born July 25, 1938 in Clinton, Illinois the son of Ernie and Clara (Johnson) Isaac. Ray was an avid woodworker, wonderful husband, and loving father. He married Carolyn Reed on July 29, 1968.
He leaves behind on this earth to cherish his memory, wife; Carolyn of 42 years, sons; Rick and wife SuSu of Washington, Brian and wife Kimmie of Washington, daughters; Kris Butts and husband Wes of Washington, and Lisa Benton and husband Brad of Sullivan, brothers; Robert Earl and wife Linda of Long Creek, Richard Wayne and wife Renee of Lane, Jerry Lynn and wife Kathy of Clinton, sisters; Judith Hight and husband Wayne and Beverly Jane Bateson and husband Arthur both of Clinton, Martha Sue Nisinger and husband Harold of Clinton, and Joyce Eileen Shofner and husband Danny of Clinton. 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Melvin Lee, Harold Dean, and James Edward.
