Ethel E. "Judy" Baughman's Obituary
Decatur-Ethel E. “Judy” (Eller) Baughman, 87, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Judy was born June 9, 1927 in Hillsboro, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel and Minnie Eller. She worked at the Signal Depot, Macon Arms, Crown Cork, Walrus MFG, General Electric, and the Decatur Mental Health Center. She also owned an upholstery shop and Judy’s Country Inn. Judy loved having large family dinners, gardening, collecting cookie jars, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Judy married Richard A. “Dick” Baughman January 5, 1981. He preceded her in death December 17, 2008.
Surviving are her children Gary (Joni) Puckett and Cathy (Darwin) Krueger, grandchildren Jennifer (Jeremy) Dragoo, Rebecca (Robert) Werner, Steven (Jamie) Borders, Jonathon Puckett, Mindy (Dalton) Goodwin, fourteen great-grandchildren, sister Mabel Peters, and brother Cecile (Maxine) Eller. Also surviving are Richard’s children Annette (Phil) Giberson, Mark (Robin) Baughman, and Steve (Lynda) Baughman, grandchildren Jill (Kian) Rafia and Ryan (Ellen) Damery, and two great-grandchildren.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Pearl Cole and Pauline Rhodes, and step-daughter Linda Baughman.
The family would like to give a special thanks to nurses, staff, and caregivers with DMH Hospice and Comfort Keepers for all of their loving care.
Services to celebrate Judy’s life will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Charles Pariler Chapter Korean War Veterans Association #24.
