Ethel M. Portlock's Obituary
Mason City-Ethel M. Portlock, 95, of Mason City formerly of Decatur, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 in her home with her family by her side.
Ethel was born February 19, 1922 in Polo, Missouri, the daughter of David Kenneth and Anna Julia (Whitsett) Louder. She was a devoted homemaker and member of Central Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed reading and bird watching. Ethel married Garner A. Portlock January 16, 1940 in Hamilton Missouri.
She leaves behind her daughters Judith Auxier of Mason City, Donna Higgins (Patrick) of Chillicothe, Ohio, grandchildren Sherry Cookson (Roger), Laura DeCoster (Mark), John Higgins (Cheryl), Rebecca Fouts (Sean), Matt Cumby, Teresa Campbell (Mark), and Tricia Francis (Gary), ten great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.
She is reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, and four brothers.
Services to celebrate Ethel’s life will be 11 AM Friday, September 29, 2017 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Central Baptist Church.
