Ethel Wilma Roles' Obituary
Ethel Wilma Roles, 90, of Decatur, passed away June 1, 2023, at Fair Havens Senior Living.
Ethel was born in Brownstown, Illinois, on December 13, 1932, the daughter of Thomas and Mayme (Lawson) Barker. She married James Roles on May 4, 1953. He preceded her in death in 1994. Ethel was a registered nurse, and she cared for the patients in Decatur Memorial Hospital Post-Surgery Unit for 34 years. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals.
Ethel is survived by her sons James (Rhonda) Roles of Green Cove Springs, Florida, and Stanley Roles of Decatur, Illinois; sister Madge Clymer of Plainsfield, Indiana; grandchildren Allison (Eric) Rector, Shannon (Randy) Fasig, and Julia Roles; and great-grandchildren Brode Rector, Lane Rector, Tyler Fasig, and Gavin Fasig. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Jerry Barker and Forrest “Red” Barker; sisters Bonnie “Shirley” Roles, Mary Brannan, and Faye Lockard; and granddaughter Amy Roles.
Graveside services for Ethel will be held at 10am on Friday, June 9, in Graceland Cemetery. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
