Etta E. Kirby's Obituary
Etta E. Kirby, 98, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at McKinley Court Nursing Home.
Etta was born March 18, 1917 in Phelps, MO to Zeorus Byron and Dalrus Delphina (Paul) Woodrum. She married William D. Kirby, Sr. on January 1, 1939 in St. Louis, MO. He passed away August 30, 1988.
Etta was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 36 and held the Academy of Friendship Degree. She also was a member of the Salvation Army Timbrels.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl K (Allan Ackles) Burns and Penny (Ed) Govro both of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William D. Kirby, Sr.; her son, William D. Kirby, Jr.; one great-great-granddaughter; five brothers, Paul, Wallace, James, Debs and Warner Woodrum; her sister, Mildred Roderick.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at McKinley Court Nursing Home.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of Etta Kirby will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 in Fairlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Women of the Moose Chapter 36.
