Eugene F. Marshall's Obituary
Eugene F. Marshall, 92, passed into eternity at Decatur Memorial Hospital Thursday, March 7, 2013.
Gene was born April 9, 1920 in Decatur, IL, the son of Roy Marshall and Eula Mae (Baker) Marshall Carter. Eugene married Lena Board July 31, 1948 and they were inseparable.
Eugene honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII from 1940-1945. He worked 44 years at S.S. Kresge, K-Mart and Sears.
Cooking was his passion. He was famous for his homemade rolls. Gene was a sharp dresser. He enjoyed gardening, plants and flowers and especially loved his dogs. Gene was a proud and private person.
Eugene was reunited in Heaven with his parents; wife; infant son, Mario Eugene Marshall; brothers, Floyd and William Marshall; sisters, Edna Mae Thompson and twins, Lucille Jones and Louise Portee.
To cherish fond memories, Eugene leaves behind his cousin, Karen (Charles) Baltimore; nieces, Margaret Johnson; Carolyn (Chester) Parsons; Phyllis Portee; Marsha Jones; Sandra Jones; Rosetta (Albert) Harper; and Jeanett Jelks all of Decatur; Judi Robbins of New Orleans, LA; nephews, Kenneth Portee, Jr. of Centennial, CO; Terry Jones of Decatur; Frederic Jones of Independence, KA; Richard (Helen) Robbins of Richmond, VA; Brent (Sandra) Robbins of Decatur; and special friend Celonia Jelks.
Celebration of life services will be 11 am Friday, March 15, 2013 at the First Church of God in Christ at 217 E. Decatur St., Decatur, IL 62522 with visitation one hour before service.
