Everett C. "Chet" Bradford's Obituary
Decatur – Everett C. “Chet” Bradford, 89, of Decatur, IL, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Hickory Point Christian Village.
Chet was born August 16, 1930, in Decatur, IL, the son of Everett H. Bradford and Lena (Wagoner) Hirstein. A U.S. Navy veteran from 1949 to 1954, Chet was stationed on the U.S.S. Cabot, CLV 26. Chet retired from Caterpillar where he worked as a heat treat engineer. He enjoyed flying, working on model airplanes and restoring Corvair’s. Chet married Pauline Grosso on March 13, 1954 in Decatur and she passed away on January 26, 2002
Surviving are his children: Debra (Scotty) Alexander of Decatur, Kay (Larry) Maschoff of Warrensburg, and Mick (Carrie) Bradford of Niles; grandchildren: Kimberly (Chris), Stephanie (Blake), Brittany (Josh), Derek (Lauren), Kasey (Shawn), Caitlin, and Jack; ten great grandchildren; siblings: Dale Bradford, Roger Hirstein, Richard Hirstein, Dennis Hirstein, Jeanette Binegar, Lorraine Bradford, Linda Patterson, Virgil Bradford, and Phil Bradford; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Chet was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline; brother, Warner Hirstein and sister, Wanda Brown.
Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2019, from 12 pm until the time of the funeral liturgy at 1 pm, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial with military rites will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Care Specialist of Illinois, Decatur or Lung Association.
