Floyd Scranton's Obituary
Floyd H. Scranton, 90, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away on March 6, 2024, at Decatur Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Floyd was born in Rockport, Illinois, on July 20, 1933, the son of Eacle and Anna Scranton. He married Ethel Johns on September 29, 1953. Floyd graduated from Pittsfield High School. In May 1953, he drafted into the United States Army and served two years in the 67th Battery Battalion. After his military service, he worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 36 years in Peoria and Decatur, Illinois. In retirement, Floyd was an active member of Central Illinois Mustangers and Head Judge in the Mustang Club of America. He also enjoyed restoring Mustangs, gardening, and spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel, of 70 years; daughter, Cathy Richert; son-in-law, Michael Chervinko; grandchildren, Tara Metully (Matt), Keagan Richert (Destinee); great grandchildren, Gavin Metully, Brylee Richert, Mason Metully, Elsie Richert, and Myles Richert; brother, Delbert Scranton (Janet Sue) and many nieces and nephews.
Floyd is proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Monroe Scranton; sister, Helen Collard; daughter, Lois Chervinko; son-in-law, Mark Richert; and great grandson, Klay Richert.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A visitation will be held at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home on Monday, March 11,2024. A funeral Service will also be held at the funeral home following the visitation with entombment to take place afterwards at Graceland Cemetery.
