Francis G. Alexander's Obituary
DECATUR- Francis G. (Frank) Alexander, 91 of Decatur, passed away at 3:50 am Monday, August 23, 2010 in Aspen Ridge Care Center.
Services to celebrate Francis's life will be held at 2 PM Thursday, August 26, 2010 in the Chapel of Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home. Interment with full military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and the 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church. Francis was born on July 27, 1919 in Frankfort, IN. the son of Clyde G. and Myrtle A. (Crawford) Alexander. He served his country in the Navy during WWII on the submarine, USS Sirago. Francis graduated from Millikin University. He was retired from Caterpillar where he worked as an engineer and then as a training supervisor. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Golden K Kiwanis and volunteered at Mary W French Academy, DOVE, DMH and delivered meals on wheels. Francis married Lorene Mae Wright on July 3, 1940 in St. Louis, MO. She passed away on June 4, 2005.
Surviving are his son- James G. Alexander and his wife Marcia of St. Louis, daughter- Janis 'Jan' Smith and her husband Clarence of Anna, IL., four grandchildren- Alicia Alexander, Aaron Alexander, Gregg Smith ( Anna Monroe) and Shelly Stadelbacher and her husband Alan, four great grandchildren- Tanner Stadelbacher, Lukus Stadelbacher, Joseph Monroe and Payton Smith (unborn grandchild), special friend and companion-Grace Crisup, and nephews-Howard and Francis Rice.
Francis was greeted in Heaven by his parents, his wife, and two sisters.
