Francis E. Nichols' Obituary
Decatur-Francis E. “Frank” Nichols, 85, of Decatur, passed away at 5:00 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 in the Emergency Room at Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Graveside services to celebrate Frank's life will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2010 at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
Frank was born June 24, 1924 in Monticello, the son of Elmer and Mable (Vannote) Nichols. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a union plumber with Local #65 retiring after forty years of service. He married Nelda (Westenhavener) McDaniel August 25, 1967. She preceded him in death June 30, 2006.
He leaves behind his sons; Jack Nichols of Decatur, Lynn and Bud Nichols of Altamont, and Ronnie Nichols of Arizona, daughter; Priscilla Snyder of Decatur, brother; Elmer 'Doc' Nichols of Lake City, Florida, sisters; Nancy Neeley of Ramsey, Mable Edwards of Sampson, Arkansas, and Shirley Porter of Decatur, step-daughter Kay June Cox of Sarasota, Florida, several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, wife, two brothers, and one sister.
