Fred R Kaufman's Obituary
Fred R. Kaufman, Jr., 85, Decatur, passed away at 12:00 noon on Wednesday March 14th, 2012, in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Fred or Fritz as some of his family called him was born May 21st, 1926 to Ruth and Fred R. Kaufman, Sr. He was a mid-year graduate of Stephen Decatur High School class of 1945. He served in the Navy in WWII. Fred married Dorothy L. Printy on February 16th, 1947. This year they celebrated 65 years of marriage. He worked for 25 years at General Electric and retired from the Decatur Public Schools Maintenance Department. He loved fishing, mushrooming, Chicago Cubs baseball, boxing and gardening. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Dorothy, Daughters Ruth (William) Bork, of Decatur, IL., and Nancy (Kevin) Kistler, of Lafayette, IN., Sons Fred R., III (Kim) of Madison, TN, Tom (Tresne), Bill (Denise), and Jim (Becke) all of Decatur, IL, Sisters Ruth Younger of Decatur, IL., Mary Lamb of Westminister, CA., Sister-n-laws Betty Nowlin of Florida, Francis (Jack) Evans, Peggy (Dave) Shulke, Evelyn and Hester Kaufman of Decatur, IL, and brother-in-law Bob Roberts of Decatur. 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and lots of special nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, infant son, brothers John and Bob Kaufman and sister Ella Wolf along with 3 brother-in-laws and 2 sister-in-laws. Memorial services at 12:00 noon Monday March 19th, 2012 with visitation from 11:00 to 12:00 noon at the Resurrection Life Church, 1085 W. McKinley Ave., Decatur, IL with Pastor Jack Greenwood officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family care of Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.
