Fred A. Miller's Obituary
Decatur – Fred A. Miller, 77 of Decatur, passed away at 9:22 am Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at McKinley Court.
Services celebrating Fred’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services. Interment with the “Flight Home” Ceremony will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to DMH Hospice or to the Disabled American Veterans.
Fred was born January 29, 1932 in Decatur, the son of Sidney W. and Cleo (Taylor) Miller. He married Patricia Wagner on October 10, 1954 in Decatur. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2008. Fred will be interred with Patricia at Graceland Cemetery.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. Fred was a mechanic for over 40 years. He was one of the first 5 Mr. Goodwrench in the nation. Fred was named as a Master Technician for G.M., which is the highest level of expertise in the field. He was a member of the Illinois Ranger Reenactment Group for at least 20 years. Fred was the Past President of OKAW Valley Muzzleloaders. He was a volunteer for the United States Corp of Engineers and a 10 year member of the Illinois Valley Blacksmith Association. Fred also was a member of the Two Rivers Jeep Club and a life long member of the N.R.A. Throughout his life he was an avid outdoorsman.
He will be greatly missed by his one daughter: Roseanne Lucille Miller of Decatur, two sons: Thomas (Debbie) Miller of Harristown and Tim (Kim) Miller of Decatur, two brothers: Emerson (Grace) Miller of Lovington and Clyde (Kate) Miller of Tuscola, four grandchildren: Shannon Chenoweth of Decatur, Jennifer (Ryan) Cooney of Homer, Alaska, Allison Castell of Decatur, and Kelsey Miller of Harristown, two great-grandchildren: Deven and Jordon Chenoweth, and one special blessing on the way.
He was reunited in heaven with his wife: Patricia, parents, four brothers, and one sister.
