Frederick H. "Butch" Morenz's Obituary
Frederick H. “Butch” Morenz, 76, of Decatur, passed on Thursday, May 22, 2014 to meet the keeper of the stars.
He was born July 7, 1937 in Macomb, IL, the son of Fred Adolph Morenz and Virginia June Morenz (Boyer).
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at New Beginning Church of God, 2606 Route 121, Decatur, IL. Funeral service will be at 12 p.m. at New Beginning Church of God with Pastor David Heady officiating. Final resting will be at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Fred may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to donor’s choice.
Fred is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Michael Morenz (Denise); daughter, Jackie Walker (Jeff); sister, Shirley Taylor (Larry); stepchildren, Kelli Perkins (Ted); Timothy and Anthony Kaupp; Kerri-Hill; Tye and Todd Raymer; Sandy Walker; grandchildren, Nick Walker (Tamara); Ashley Piraino (Tony); Christopher Morenz; great-grandchildren, Ella and Alli Walker; Colton and Isbelle Piraino; and 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Skip Morenz.
Fred proudly served his country in the Army after graduating from Decatur High School. He was an active member of Trinity Luther Church. His love of football has led him to coach J.F.L. for several years. He was employed by Midstates General and Mechanical Contractors and a proud member of Iron Workers Local #46 in Springfield, IL earning his 50 year pin before his retirement.
A very heartfelt thank you to Larry Lowash, Rose Pruett, and little Luke for all their unconditional help and support while caring for Butch while he was still at home. A most sincere loving thank you to Arcadia Hall, nurses, CNAs, activities directors, therapist, and office staff of Heartland Nursing Home.
