Frederick "Alan" Hoffman's Obituary
Frederick “Alan” Hoffman, 80, of Maroa, passed away Friday, April 26, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Alan was born February 8, 1939, in Decatur, IL to John Davis and Margaret Evelyn (Armstrong) Hoffman. Alan’s mother passed when he was a young child and his father married Clara Margaret (Richardson) Fore. Alan drove a semi for 31 years and before completely retiring, he drove a school bus for the Maroa-Forsyth School District and owned and operated Hoffy’s Lawn Service. His family was his life and he will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce; four children, Tim Hoffman of Danville, IL, Terry (Lori) Hoffman of Bitburg, Germany, Pam (Tom) Miles of Troy, Missouri and Paula (Fiancé, Scott Bird) Pope of Warrensburg, IL; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Hoffman of Blue Mound, IL and Larry Wayne (Rose) Hoffman of Decatur, IL; two sisters, Sharon Booker of Texas and Mary Margaret Stambaugh of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; one sister; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
The family would like to give special thanks to the ICU staff and doctor’s at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital for their outstanding care and service.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Alan Hoffman will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home before the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
