Garry Allsop's Obituary
Garry Allsop, 72, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012.
Garry was born June 18, 1939 to Riley and Alta Allsop in Holliday, IL. Garry and his ex-wife Mary (Kenny) Box had a son, Terry L. Allsop of McKinney, TX, whom he leaves behind along with grandsons, Tyler (Diane) Allsop and Dalton Allsop, and great granddaughter, Alyson, all of McKinney, TX. He also leaves behind granddaughter, Sara (Garret) Harrison, great grandson, Hayden Harrison, and great granddaughter, Emilee Harrison, all of Balch Springs, TX.
Garry leaves behind his soul mate wife for the last sixteen years, Barbara I. Black of Decatur, IL. He leaves behind stepsons, Dwayne (Kim) Black and Joseph Black of Decatur, IL; grandsons, Austen Stoots, James and Matthew Sample of Decatur, IL; stepson Arthur (Virginia) Black Jr. of Garnett, KS; stepdaughter Penny White and granddaughter Kyrstie White both of Effingham, IL; stepdaughter Jennifer (Mike) Black, granddaughter Elizabeth Mounts and grandson MaxLee Mounts all of Decatur, IL; grandsons, Anthony (Todd) Watkins of Decatur, IL; and Michael Rodriguez of Oxnard, CA; and granddaughter Brittney Rodriguez of Oxnard, CA.
Garry worked for Peters Machine before going to DCP Machine, from which he retired. He was known as one of the best machinists in the state.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley Allsop and Atta Davis; half brother, Butch; three sisters, Shirley, Phyllis and Beverly; one stepdaughter; and Patricia Rodriquez.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at Graceland Cemetery with a 'Flight Home' ceremony. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cancer Research.
