Gary L. Bordner's Obituary
On Monday, October 15, 2018, Gary Bordner “Cork”, husband, father, son, brother and coach, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Decatur, IL on January 2, 1953.
Gary will be forever remembered by his loving wife Joetta and two children, Stacey (Jason) Root of Mattoon, IL and Brandon (Jamie) Bordner of Geneva, IL; five grandchildren Kyus, Thayden, Cannon, Liam and Adley.
He is survived by his two older brothers and younger sister; John (June) Bordner of Big Fork, MT, Bill (Connie) Bordner of Decatur, IL and Vicki (Brad) Haglund of Reno, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Kathy Bordner.
Cork was a retired union machinist at Mueller Co. and a volunteer firefighter at Long Creek Township for over 20 years. He coached many young men through Decatur’s Junior Football League. His joys were his grand kids play sports and them finding the same love he had for the outdoors.
A visitation will be held at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home on Friday October 19th, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM.
A funeral mass to honor his life will be held on Saturday, October 20th, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, 407 E. Eldorado St., Decatur, IL 62523
