Gary D. Winholtz's Obituary
Decatur-Gary Dale Winholtz, 63, of Decatur, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 in his home with his family by his side.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Gary will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to DMH Hospice, Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois or a charity of the donor's choice.
Gary was born November 20, 1949 in Decatur the son of Harry Winholtz and Mona Jean (Long) Winholtz Ross. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was previously employed as an operator with Tate & Lyle and then in maintenance with Halak Inc. He loved NASCAR and stock car racing. He owned and drove his own stock car at Macon Speedway. He married Kathleen Wood November 20, 1987 in Patchogue, New York.
He leaves behind his wife Kathleen, sons Troy Winholtz of Decatur, Chad Winholtz of Bethany, and Shawn Winholtz and wife Jennifer of Adger, Alabama, sisters Nancy Craker of Nampa, Idaho and Gloria Stephens and husband Joe of Ooltewah, Tennessee, brother Steve Winholtz and wife Sharon of Decatur, and grandchildren Tyler, Cassy, and Nathan.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents and Jim Ross.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at DMH Hospice and the Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois and friends for all of their loving care and concern during Gary's Illness.
