Gavin G Marquis' Obituary
Gavin G. Marquis, born on February 4, 1947, was called to his Heavenly Home on July 30, 2026. He was the son of the late Everett C. Marquis and Anamary Chambers Marquis.
Gavin worked in the building and bridge department at Norfolk and Southern Railway Company for 38 years and retired in 2007. He then worked at Macon County Animal Control until retiring again in 2026.
He married Carolyn Sendzik on August 25, 1973. She survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Lisa (Marcus), and her children Stevie, Rome, and Tiana, of Decatur; and son, Scott (Alaina) and his children Dexter and Vayda of Mt. Zion; as well as his beloved golden retriever, Gracie.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Frederick Marquis; sister, Cecelia Marie Marquis; and beloved pets, Sammy and Tucker.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, where Gavin was a member, or to Macon County Animal Control.
Celebration of life services will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the graveside in Graceland Cemetery.
